Zambia is moving forward with the implementation of its National Pharmaceutical Track & Trace System, a major step toward strengthening medicine safety, quality, and accountability across the entire supply chain.
On 6 August 2026, the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with ZAMRA, ZAMMSA, and key partners, convened the National Pharmaceutical Track & Trace Technical Working Group to review implementation progress and accelerate the national rollout.
The system is already operational in selected health facilities, initially focusing on vaccines, with plans to progressively expand to essential medicines and other medical products.
This important reform will enhance end-to-end supply chain visibility, enable faster and more effective product recalls, strengthen the fight against substandard and falsified medicines, and support the ability to trace medicines from manufacturer to patient.
Zambia is taking an important step toward a safer, smarter, more transparent, and resilient pharmaceutical supply chain.
