Every country implements pharmaceutical traceability in the way that fits its own market and its own objectives. What matters is that there is a school of thought behind it, what the country actually needs, and how its plan to get there is structured.
Resolution No. 149 (02.04.2022) mandates a GS1 DataMatrix on the consumer pack for medicines and medical devices in Uzbekistan, under the "Asl Belgisi" national system operated by CRPT TURON.
It was to split the mandate into four product groups, each with its own clock:
1️⃣ Medicinal products released in secondary (outer) packaging (excluding orphan drugs) → 1 September 2022
2️⃣ Medicinal products released in primary (inner) packaging (where secondary packaging is absent), and medicinal bulk products (excluding orphan drugs) → 1 November 2022
3️⃣ Orphan medicinal products → 1 March 2023
4️⃣ Medical devices → 1 February 2025
In implementation, the DataMatrix payload splits into four data groups:
1️⃣ GTIN (01) ...14 digits
2️⃣ Serial Number (21) 13 characters
3️⃣ Verification Key (91) .. 4 characters
4️⃣ Verification Code (92) ...44 characters
In dec 2024 there was a change announced that Packaging Serial Number Formation
As is: The packaging serial number (AI 21) is generated randomly.
To be: The first character of the packaging serial number is a fixed digit ‘7’ (this digit indicates the country of code issuance and is required for implementing processes of mutual recognition of marking codes with other countries). The overall length of marking codes remains unchanged, and the code templates also remain the same. If a participant generates serial numbers independently, their length is reduced by one character, since the first character, the digit ‘7’ will be added automatically.
