𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 & 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 (𝐌𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡)

As countries across the region push forward with national serialization mandates (like Tatmeen in UAE, RSD in KSA, and NHRA in Bahrain) one truth becomes clear, 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲.

- 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐫𝐬 quickly discover their ERP isn’t ready to handle serial number generation at the work order level, or store aggregation data tied to a specific batch.

- 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 face a new operational reality, it’s no longer about receiving an item and quantity. Now they must reconcile serial-level data via EPCIS, track what's received, and ensure accurate outbound serial tracking to each customer. Aggregation at warehouse level? That’s a new layer entirely.

- 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 struggle with POS systems designed to scan EAN-13 or internal barcodes. After serialization, they must scan GS1 DataMatrix codes, which many systems don’t support.

- 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐬, especially those using older HIS systems, often lack scanning at the dispensing step , a crucial gap when compliance requires patient-level reporting of dispensed serials(or same as scanning point in pharmacies).

On top of all that, these systems must now communicate with national hubs, either by sending compliant reporting messages or integrating with middleware to do so.

If your systems weren’t built for serialization, now’s the time to ask: Are we ready to comply, or are we risking disruption?
