Since going live in February 2019, EMVS has grown into a truly pan-European safety network, connecting pharmaceutical companies, wholesalers, pharmacies, hospitals, and authorities through the European Hub. Today, it supports around 136,000 end users, including more than 124,000 pharmacies and 7,000 healthcare institutions, working together to stop falsified medicines and protect patients across borders.
Over the past years, the system has shown strong performance and resilience, expanding connected OBPs, increasing dispense transactions from 4 billion to 6.8 billion, and ensuring stable EU Hub operations. With 29 countries now part of EMVS, and continuous improvement ahead, this journey proves that large-scale patient safety is only possible through long-term collaboration, trust, and innovation across the entire supply chain.
At its core, we see every day that the EMVS is a shared platform of trust. It supports and reinforces the work of organisations combatting falsification, encouraging effective cooperation with law enforcement and competent authorities, and strengthens public health protection by allowing real-time verification, data exchange, and coordinated action.
