Mohamed El Mokhtar Yahya Mohamedine, Mission Officer at the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Modernization of Administration, stated in an interview with Radio Mauritania that the Ministry is preparing to launch a new digital platform for tracking medicines and other health products across the country.
He explained that the platform aims to monitor the journey of medicines from manufacturing to the final consumer through a unique serial number and secure pharmaceutical packaging, contributing to the fight against counterfeiting and ensuring the quality of medicines.
He added that the system will enable the identification of unauthorized and expired medicines, while also providing consumers with a dedicated mobile application to verify the authenticity and validity of medicines.
He further confirmed that the tender process for the platform has been completed, that the submitted proposals are currently under evaluation by the procurement committee, and that a final decision is expected to be made soon.
