A digital tool called NAQTY ONIM operates in Kazakhstan, allowing citizens to check medicines themselves, obtain information about their labeling and traceability, and also monitor compliance with the established maximum prices.
The application was created within the framework of the state system of digital labeling and traceability of goods. Its use helps increase the transparency of the pharmaceutical market and provides additional opportunities for protecting consumer rights.
How to check a medicine?
A unique Data Matrix code is placed on the packaging of medicines produced after 1 July 2024.
To check a product, you need to open the NAQTY ONIM application and scan the code using the smartphone camera.
After scanning, the user can obtain information about the medicine, including:
- the product name
- the manufacturer
- registration data
- labeling status
- information on the legality of the product's origin
- information on the movement of the medicine along the supply chain
Digital labeling makes it possible to track the movement of a product from the manufacturer or importer to the distributor, the pharmacy, and the end purchaser.
Price control on medicines
Another capability of the application relates to checking prices.
The user can find out the maximum retail price set by the state for a medicine and compare it with the product's price in the pharmacy.
If the price exceeds the established maximum level, a citizen can report this through the available digital services and submit the information for further review by the authorized bodies.
Citizen participation in oversight
NAQTY ONIM gives citizens the ability to obtain information themselves about the medicines they purchase and to report possible violations.
Such digital tools complement state oversight and help to detect in a timely manner cases where medicines are sold in breach of the established requirements.
