Registration of all imported medicines targeted for completion before the end of December
The relevant authorities responsible for implementing Egypt’s National Pharmaceutical Track and Trace System will begin registering an initial batch of 50 imported pharmaceutical products on November 1, 2026. Additional products will be added in successive batches, with the aim of completing the registration of all imported medicines before the end of December 2026. This will allow the new year to begin with the registration of this category of medicines completed.
Sources familiar with the matter told Al Mal that a meeting was held on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), attended by several companies operating in the pharmaceutical market, including Pharma Overseas, Ibn Sina Pharma, Roche, and Viatris.
The meeting focused on completing the registration plan for imported pharmaceutical products and discussing the requirements for incorporating them into the National Pharmaceutical Track and Trace System.
The sources added that the plan aims to gradually expand the registration of imported medicines through successive batches, allowing the necessary technical and regulatory procedures to be completed for each product while preparing the relevant companies to comply with the system’s operational and electronic traceability requirements.
They explained that the start of registration for the new batch in early November represents a further step in expanding the implementation of the national system. The remaining imported medicines will continue to be registered throughout November and December, with the objective of completing the registration of all imported pharmaceutical products before the end of 2026.
